Saturn says they do not discount their prices - yet I have noticed them
enhancing 'rebates' over the last couple of months (to clear out the
    2003's).

The dealer salesman tells me I had better buy now as these rebates will end
    next week.

Given that the rebates started at $1,500 at the beginning of November and
are now $2,000 as a 'special holidays rebate' - does it stand to reason that
Saturn might have a 'January pay the credit card off' rebate of $2,500 or
    $3,000?

I was wondering if anone recalls what Saturn did last January to get rid of
    any remaining 2002's?

Don't know where you live, but here in the SF Bay area, the rebates
between the manufacturer and dealer are $5,000 for an L series and $3250
    for an ION or Vue.

I should have clarified - we have multi-rebates here:

$3,500 - which I think is for paying cash & not taking advantage of their
    low interest loan program
$1,500 - I forget what that rebate is for ...
$2,000 - this is the 'Holiday Rebate'
$1,000 - for being a recent University graduate

For a total of $7,000 in rebates (Canadian funds)

Thing is - if they crank up the rebates even further into January - then
    I'll wait until then.

  5. For a while there were like 5 different rebates available. If you were a
recent graduate, who joined the military, and were a current Oldsmobile
owner, you could get up to $5500 off of an L series. But the important thing
to remember is that Saturn does not discount prices!

There is no alternative to the continuance of rebates and discounts, unless
they can find some fleet buyers such as rental car companies. Rental car
companies are perfect candidates for Saturn. Since they change their fleet
every year they don't care about reliability. Resale value is an issue, but
if they pay low enough prices up-front, then the resale value is less of an
    issue.
