I have a Saturn SL2 and live in Manitoba, Canada. I wanted to find some
inexpensive snow tires to install. Any recommendations? Can I just install
snow tires in the front or do I really need all four done. Thanks

Hi; I'm in NL. My recommendation would be to install four studded snow
tires. I have bought Khumos for my Saturn in the past. They are relatively
cheap and of reasonable quality. There are, of couse, better tires out
there, but the Khumos perform reasonably well is the extreme cold like we
have here - decent rubber compound. Personally, I wouldn't install just two
winter tires, but I have seen it done.

Also, MB is much flatter than NL so you may not need the studs out there
like we do in the east.

    Cheers!

Wal-Mart is the cheapest, if price is what you are looking for. Canadian
Tire is more, but probably better qualified, but I can't make judgment in
Manitoba. All 4 is recommended, but depends on how bad your all-seasons are.
The problem is the fronts can go bat-out-of-hell, but the rear can't keep up
going around corners, so either you have to be quick to compensate for the
back end slipping out, or slow down.
