Trunk lid will not open using key fob remote or driver's release

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by Kevin Hoskins, Oct 22, 2006.

  1. Greetings,

My 1997 SL2's trunk will only open from the outside using the key. Any
ideas as to the cause of this problem or what needs to be
fixed/replaced. Key fob locks and unlocks the door locks just fine.

Try opening up your key fob and cleaning the contacts at the trunk button.

  3. See if there is a little red switch on the latch inside the trunk.
Saturn put the switch in to make it harder to steal stuff from the
trunk....a security feature. With it engaged, the key fob and remote
releases do no work. If there is one, just flip it to the other setting
    and things should work again.

  4. Mine had this problem. Open up and wash your remote.

No, DON'T "wash" it. Clean it with a dry cloth, or dry-cleaning solvent, or a
pencil eraser. But don't wash it.
