    Hi,

This weekend I replaced my head gasket and a few other gaskets due to water being in the oil. After getting ever thing installed and cranking the engine I noticed the timing was off. Thinking back I don't think I had the engine at TDC. I did take the camshafts, and rockers out before take the head off. I guess my question is when I go back in to reset the timing once I have the engine at TDC do I have to move the cams to ensure that the timing is correct?

If the engine was in time and you had rotated it to top dead center before starting, the timing marks would have aligned.

Therefore when you put it back together, it should look exactly the same as it did before you started. Which means you need to do whatever you need to do such that all of the components are aligned as they would have been at the beginning with the engine at top dead center.
