    i had asked about why the gears were hard . thanks .

    At that age and mileage it is most likely a worn clutch, but it could be
    caused by a bad throwout bearing or bent throwout fork too. In any case,
    the transmission will need to be opened up and the clutch should be replaced
    due to the labor cost.
