Service engine soon light on code 0741

Ok Imready to shoot wifes 1996 SL2.Service engine soon light keeps coming on.It gives 0741 which is the lock up converter circuit.Its been to the trans shop twice now.All good.The last time they cleared the code and drove it for 2 weeks as the shop car.NOTHING, ZERO,NOT A PEEP.Told me it needed to be driven on highway over 55.Took it home drove up and down I85 10 miles.Head home to have emissions done.Damn light pops on again! Any ideas? help. Thanks

 

The key here may be in the code wording! "Circuit" may be an indicator that the problem is not in the lock up converter, but may be in the wiring, fuses, or relay for the converter lock up. An intermittent problem in electrical circuits is normally something minor to repair, but usually difficult to find since it's intermittent. Start by checking and making sure any fuses or relays are good and have clean contacts. Then if no problem is found, try tracing the wiring in the harness and wiggling it along it's path. Also check any plug in connectors along the path for this circuit. Many times, just cleaning the connections and contacts will fix this type of problem, even though you never actually find what was causing it in the first place.
