Saturn Ion gas gauge shows empty

I have a 2005 Ion and the gas gauge read completely empty 1 day after
a fillup. Checked later and it read full.

Have any of you seen this intermittent problem before? What caused
it?

I am currently having a similar problem with my 02 SL1. Fill up, gauge shows
full, go drive 16-42kms and the gauge goes to halfway, then slowly goes back
up to 3/4. Took it twice to my Saturn dealer and they can't find anything
wrong ( numbskulls or what ?). Taking it to another dealer on the weekend
when I have time.

Yep.

What caused it?

Driving followed by refilling the gas tank.

I'm suspecting it's under warranty, so on your next oil change mention
it to the dealer.

I have an older saturn, and nothing but problems with the gas gauge,
it never shows empty. Even when you are dead on the side of the road
with the hazards on.
