I have a new Saturn Ion 4-door sedan with the most basic radio. How
does it come out? There's a large trim panel over the whole middle
dashboard that covers everything. Can't find any screws. How's it
come off and how's the radio come out?

    Thanks,
    Jim

I've read in this newsgroup that you just grab the eyeball vents
firmly and pull real hard. Haven't tried it myself.

    I have.

Grab them eyeballs and pull like a son-of-a-bitch! It will pop out.

Is the instrument cluster still in the center of the dashboard?.On

  6. Oh -- no -- I have seen those layouts & had forgotten.
VUE has a traditional layout (closest thing to it I've seen is Chevy
    Equinox).

I bought the VUE with only the basic CD player rather than
either of the MP3-capable. The only advantage to that one is lesser cost
(I guess) and the small open storage well that otherwise is not there.

Just debating whether to do anything while car is young (1,000 mi. to
    date). Cheers!

(please forgive I have edited some of the conversation "below")

Many thanks for the good replies. The panel is fastened with simple
push-in clips. I worked my finger under the bottom part near the
radio and worked it around. It popped right out a clip at a time.

    Thanks!
