Got the "Low Coolant" warning light this morning and checked level in
coolant overflow tank (engine cold). Coolant was down about 2" below the
"Cold" mark. There are no obvious leaks to be seen. Car has about 27,000
miles on it, with no previous problem with coolant loss. Taking it in to
dealer today or tomorrow, but wanted to know if anyone else had experienced
    this on the V-6. Thanks.

A very slow "leak" like this is not cause for concern; there will be a
*SMALL* amount of leakage out of the water pump seal.

Top it off with the correct coolant (probably a 50/50 mix of Dexcool and
distilled water) and you should be fine.

  3. Drooling coolant is one of our L300's (also a 2001) favorite things to do...
we had a leak at the oil cooler (common - there is a tsb for this, and an
updated seal/packing kit) and the water pump (replaced under warranty) -
also, if they do any work on the coolant system and drain it, it is
evidently difficult to burp completely - so you will see the coolant drop
every now and then over the couple of days following the service, then it
will be fine. We also had some relay go (I forget which one - it controlled
an aspect of the cooling fans) which the dealer said caused it to loose
coolant, but not overheat (which makes no sense...)
