how long should the oil pressure light stay on when starting.

Having recently had major surgery on my 95 SC2 I decided I would
be very pro-active in maintaining my car's engine from now on. I've
noticed that upon starting the car, there is maybe a 2-3 second delay
before the low oil pressure light goes off. Is this normal or could it be
doing damage to the car? It is only for a couple seconds but before the
repairs (engine rebuilt) I never noticed it at all. I don't know if it
used to go off sooner than it does now or if I'm just painfully more
    aware of it.
