Headliner

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by Barry Schnoor, Jun 16, 2004.

  1. Headliner was the name of the first band I played in during my angst-filled
    teen years...

But now the headliner is falling down in my '94 SL2. I know this isn't a
Saturn specific problem...but can someone point me to a fix? I tried the 3M
"sprayment"...the aerosol spray glue. The stuff sticks to anything.
Unfortunately, the solvents that keep the glue in suspension in the can tend
to eat away at the foam on the car's ceiling.

Just the fabric is coming down. The foam seems to be intact. Granted, it's
    only cosmetic...but it IS ugly.

    Thanks.

You must remove the formed cardboard headliner from the car... then remove all
the remaining foam. Once the cardboard is totally clean, you can then use the
spray glue to install new material.

I suggest you purchase new material without the foam back. It is the foam that
is breaking down causing the problem.

Just about any thicker material can be used that is found at a fabric store.
Just be sure it has just a bit of stretch to it.
