engine swaping

    Looking into engine swapping and looking for others' experiences and
    stories....what has worked what hasn't, what needed to be fabricated and
    what fit. Also any new ideas you may have from your experiences would be
    helpful. thanks.

    oh yeah, and i'm specifically looking for experiences concerning a 2000 SC2
    5sp.

    well, that's part of the reason for the post, i'd like to hear what others
    have to say and then make my decision from that. I've heard the LS1 and LS6
    are a nice swap, but if i'm looking at the right engine, it's seems like a
    hell-of-a power jump, which would require replacing a lot more than just the
    engine. So, this is just kind of a feeler.

  6. I know someone has put the 3800 V6 in and S series and drives it every day
    (don't have a link / name - sorry)

    If you have access to fabrication equipment, money, and time, you can make
    just about anything fit & work.

    I've heard quite a few rumors about the 3800 v6 satty, but as of yet, no one
    has been able to provide anything more than that it's been done. I'm
    starting to wonder if it's not something that was started and "snowballed."
    As far as the fabrication and such, time i have, fabrication equipment i can
    get acess too, money i'm out of.

    A big block Chevy in a Saturn might be getting beyond 'just about

    Don't know what you mean by snowballed... The guy who did it visits the
    same dragstrip that I do in Central WI (Wisconsin International Raceway).
    It's an SC2, and the supercharged 3800 is stock for the most part. I've
    seen it run in the 13s with one-wheel traction and I believe he was on
    street tires. And he built it reliable enough that he drives it every day.

    Otherwise, a lot can be had from the current motor with persistence and
    determination. These guys ran 12s on a Saturn 1.9 DOHC motor with stock
    internals and nitrous - and it wasn't short-lived either as it got pounded
    on regularly at the dragstrip. http://www.differentracing.com/ They just
    built a turbo motor and I can't wait to see what they do with it.

  11. 3 things would make my '93 SC2 a truely 'liveable' car:

    * No useless rear seat. Give me more room in the trunk and up front
    (heh:)
    * More headroom.
    * The 3800.

    I don't get why GM went off and bothered with yet another crappy inline
    4 when they had the best V6 at the time (and still darn good) to drop
    in. With a good 4 speed automagic or a good manual, it'd make the car
    enjoyable. Granted, I HATE inline 4s. Might be because I grew up in a
    house with a Vega...
