    Thank you for your feedback,

so the emergency key for ION1 should be the same as regular key in that it
can open the door, it can start engine?

Then, why does the users manual says ION has PassLock system? it is also
    typo?

    Thanks...

Dont confuse Passlock with PassKEY, easy to do. Passkey system (aka PK#) is
like what is on the Relay; a chipped key which is recognized by the ignition
    and can store personal settings.

Passlock, which has been in use since S-car days is an anti-theft system
built into the ignition which can regognize if the proper key is in the
ignition when starting the car and if not will shut down the fuel system.

What the others are saying about the spare key that Saturn has mailed to you
is that Saturn is saying it is intended to use to enter the car but not
practical to turn in the ignition as it may not be strong enough for
everyday use and is intended for emergency use only.
