  2. I searched for the name of the article's author, who is the
Editor-in-Chief of newcartestdrive.com, and came up with this webform
which might get you in touch with him and you can ask him what his
source is for the programmable steering:

    http://www.nctd.com/contact.cfm

There is also an email address here, tho YMMV:

    http://www.thecarconnection.com/bio.asp?id=67&n=160,224,226&sid=226

The service techs I've talked to deny that my RKE is reprogrammable,
despite what the owner's manual says.

My father in law bought a VUE when they first came out. After having it a few
months and taking a long distance trip, he hated the touchy steering. When he
took it back to the dealer, they made an adjustment and now it is no longer a
problem. They told him what they did, but he didn't understand it and couldn't
    relay any accurate info.

But there is an adjustment/repair for the issue.
