You'll end up kicking yourself later.

    Gosh. Sorry to hear that.

I myself am a car disliker. Nothing much about cars turn me on. A
necessity. I had owned a couple of dozen different ones over 30 years or
so. Never really liked one. Until now.

I had purchased a 2002 L200 and aside from very minor points, it is the
best and most liked car I had ever owned. It's no race car. Nor is it a
Luxury car worth in the 100,000 dollar range. Neither of those make my
nipples hard anyway. It is a solid, and convenient car. Well thought out.
    Perhaps not perfect. Nothing is.

So far so good. I enjoy driving it. Sorry you dislike your's.

Are you a Honda dealer? (Snicker)

    well i beg to differ
i am a truck man, and have a 2000z71, BUT my wife has a 2002 saturn.
    and she loves it.
she has had it almost 1 1/2 yrs now and i maybe have driven it a dozen
    times.
the ONLY thing i dislike about it, or any other car is that i am use to
stepping up to get in a truck and steppin down to get out.
with wifes car, i have to fall in to her car, and step up to get out.
BUT other then that I LOVE IT.
the ONLY problem we have had with it so far was that the dome light
button in door jam of drivers side got stuck, easy fix tho at dealer.
but over all she loves it.
and to think she wanted a dodge neon, which after i saw the crash test
reports i would NOT let her get one.

Care to elucidate? (I'm curious to know if there's something that I should
    be watching out for.)

Oh man! I wish you'd told me this BEFORE we bought five Saturns over 6
    years.

I could have saved myself big bucks and lots of headaches.

Wait, I got good deals on the cars and they've been relatively reliable and
    easy to service.

    Never mind...

  6. ....do you ever hear from Al C.? He and his family had a bunch of them too -
one of the last posts I remember was him getting a ported/polished head for
    one of his SL2's.

Too late. I own two, and have been an owner for ten years.
When? Maybe after I'm up to a quarter million miles and twenty years on the
    clock.

    Nah, probably not.

    Sorry bout your luck..

Ive had 4 saturns..and besides the small problems hear and there you
can have with ANY car. I've loved everyone i've owned.
Your comments show you really have no idea what your talking about,
and you'll just be considered as already stated a troll.

Why dont your go in to detail about the problems with your car. Until
you do no one will take anything you say seriously.

Well...if you get oil changes and regular maintence done there, that
would amount to a lot of paperwork over 1.5 years. But if you don't
tell us what all happened to your car, how are we supposed to assume
that 1" thick pile of service orders are anything other than oil
changes and balance and rotations. We're not going to take your word
unless you tell us your issues-assumptions won't work here buddy.
Some of us happen to LOVE our saturns-like me. 1997 SC2 going strong

  16. I think the plastic is one of its best features.... no rust! A big deal for
us up here in the cold temps when they dump salt on the roads. But to say to
go Japanese... hope you didnt mean a Honda... thats the most common vehicle I
see on the side of the road with its hood up... no joke.

  17. Perhaps thee trolleth?

My Saturn SL2 is almost 11 years old, 190,000 miles. We owned Hondas
before we bought it. We were lured by the lack of sales pressure,
found the car to be MUCH more comfortable than the Hondas we were used
to, and found it to have been more reliable as well. [The Hondas of
that period had terrible brakes and front end bearings. Great engines,
but that damn timing belt issue is a design flaw in my book.] The
plastic body panels have also held up incredibly well.

Not one warranty issue during the period. Not one. The first issue was
a blown rear strut at 80,000, but that was our fault (wife hit a big
pothole). To be honest though, started having a few components go:

    alternator (160K)
    water pump (175K)[fixed myself]
electric fan motor (177K) [fixed myself]
    belt idler (180K)
headliner is disintegrating for some reason

We just drove ours on a 6 hour trip over the holiday weekend! We'll
have to get rid of ol' Sattie soon (sniff) since we have another kid
on the way and she's just about run into the ground. Couldn't ask more
from a car in my opinion.
