delayed grab when changing from reverse to drive??

[question]

hi - i have a 1995 sc-1 (automatic) and last night i began to have a
problem that when i switch from reverse to drive, when i press the gas
it takes a few seconds for it to "grab"...this also happens if i stop
at a red light. the problem seems intermittent...anyone have any
ideas what may be the cause of this? and if so, what's my solution?

You can do a search in google groups within the rec.autos.makers.saturn ng
for "reverse bang" and you'll come across mention of a failing valve body.

And I believe over at www.saturnfans.com there is a procedure for cleaning
the valve body without taking things apart.
