Dashboard slot identity

On my 2008 Vur XR there is a small slot to the left of the steering wheel. I cannot figure out a use for it other than to hold a credit car or insurance car etc. Can someone enlighten me?

That's odd. Does it pull out? Ive never had a second gen vue so I'm not sure
