Can someone tell me a specific brand of coolant I can use on my
    94 SL2 ? I need non-phosphate ethylene glycol based coolant.
I went to the Prestone's website and found the following items.
I do not want to use the one-type-fits-all coolant.
Is any of the following products good for my car? If not,
what other specific brands of coolant can I use (other than
    getting them from the dealer).

    Thanks a million,
    tcl

  2. All anti-freezes you'll see in the store nowadays will be safe. I just
use what ever is most affordable. There are two main colors (red,
green) however all green you buy today will work with cars shipped with
    red.

Yeah if you never ever want to ever convert the system back and if you
want to be stuck changing the coolant EVERY 2 years or 36k miles... Want
some water from the creek to mix with that?

Mmm....... lots of people say that, unless you do a thorough
flush, you should not mix colors. If you have green stuff in
the radiator already, you should continue to use green stuff,
and vise versa. In addition, not all green stuff are phosphate
free. Just the other day, I went in a Pep Boys store and looked
at the coolant in there. They have their own ProLine brand
coolant products. One of them was ethylene glycol based.
But it contains phosphate. So definitely not for my saturn,
for phosphate will damage my aluminum engine.

  5. The two colors don't mix. You will have pockets of green and orange in your
engine. I made the mistake and my water pump started leaking green even
though the overflow was orange. Don't mix.

You make no since. They do mix to a nasty blend. They mix to what ever
muddy color Orange and Green make. The only reason yours had 2 different
colors is because the engine hadnt sucked or expelled any coolant to
    your overflow bottle.

    By the way...OLD THREAD!

They will mix but I wouldn't... it makes a nasty looking color.
    Anyhow...

Just go to Saturn and buy a gallon of the proper coolant. I do and it
costs me around $10 a gallon. Big deal - $10 every other year and you
know it is safe. One gallon is all you need on a bi-annual flush and
fill. My Saturn parts guy throughs in the 2 conditioner tablets needed
    after the refill.

I have owned my '92 since new and absolutely no problems. James

I was at Pep Boys and they had a phosphate free Havoline anitfreeze.
Printed on the jug it said "May not meet Saturn or GEO factory specs".
Stay away, and go to Saturn.
