Can I tow a hardtop camper

I have a 95 Sl1 automatic. I was wondering if i could tow a hardtop camper?
Is there anybody out there that has done it in the past.
I don't want to tear the car up.
The camper is somewhere between 1000 and 1500 pounds.

your max on an SL is 1000 libs, at least it is on an 94 SL2.
