    Hello all

I've done most of my homework and have searched the past threads on
this issue but I still have a few questions. Details below.

    1. Where can I get a copy of the extended warranty Saturn offered to
    those who had cracked heads?

    2. Did Saturn make this problem known to all its affected customers or
    just the ones who complained?

    3. How long can the car run like this if it is kept full of coolant?
What further damage can be done?

Okay, here are the details. My daughter bought a '95 Saturn (1.9l
DOHC). I'm pretty sure it is an SL2. The normal cracked head symptoms
started soon after she got it. Low coolant light, intermittent
overheating problem, loss of coolant, reservoir has scum in it, coolant
foams like a draft St. Patty's Day beer when engine accelerated and
pukes out when you go back to idle suddenly. She has not let it red
line and since the temp sensor is flaky, the fan is wired to run
    anytime the engine is running.

Thanks in advance for any help!

  2. it has expired. was for 100k/6yrs
    all affected cars.
yikes - a friend of mine did it for several weeks. not sure what else
you'd damage - you pretty much ave to replace all the hoses & thermostat
    anyway.
DOHC engines were not affected by teh casting flaw defect that was
covered by the warrenty. Only '95-'96 SOHC engines were covered.

I'm with Kevin on this one. The DOHC supposedly wasn't the one affected by
the flaw. I'd be looking at something else: thermostat or head gasket?
Pull the plugs and see if anything looks unusual. Odd why they wired the
fan to be always on. Maybe a sensor?
