AC condensation worries

Today on my way home from an oil change, I started hearing a noise from
under my hood like a roast on a spit. "spat!" every minute or so when
stooped at a light. When I got home and popped the hood, I noticed that the
AC condenser was all wet (much more than the normal condensation) and so was
the hose that runs from it (above the radiator fan). The condensation coming
from the top AC hose was so wet that it was dripping about every minute or
two and the fan would blow it into the hot header, hence the "spat!" noise.

I normally drive with the radio on, today I didn't have it on so I heard it.
Today it was 90% humidity and heat index about 90.

The AC works perfectly. I just came from Saturn and they gave my 93 SL2 a
perfect bill of health. I looked, but see only condensation. There are no
    leaks that I could find.

I am worried about this especially now because I am taking my wife on
vacation the day after tomorrow for our anniversary and any car trouble
    would really really suck.

Someone told me that especially on an older car, this much condensation is
normal for a hot day like today, is it?

    Thanks,

My car is a 1994, its R134, not R12 AC coolant.

  3. If the A/C is working well, I wouldn't worry about it. Quite likely it's
normal in that kind of humidity and heat..

You might consider the possibility that you have a coolant leak (or
possibly overheating condition) that is releasing steam under the
hood and causing more than normal condensation.
