My 96 SC-2, (165K on the odometer and now using less oil than at 70K.)
    has a ignition switch problem.

The problem: When I start the car, the fan blower will not come on until
I wiggle the key a bit. I use the cruise control light as a guide, as
it too does not come on until the power is on the blower.

Obviously there is a problem with the switch or another switch which is
"flipped" by the key turning the lock. Has any one had this problem?
Do I need to replace the switch or some other part? I want to be
prepared with what most likely will be the replacement part(s) before I
    pop anything open.

Your ignition switch tumblers are probably worn.. look at your key. if
it is the original and it is all worn then the best thing would be to
just replace the ignition insert. Saturn can do it and provide new keys.
