91 Saturn what is that box for

Discussion in 'General Motoring' started by TotallyConfused, Nov 13, 2005.

  1. I own a 91 Saturn and were having problems with the box in the middle of
the console. I don't have auto windows or locks ,but the box is making
clicking nosies and the car needs to be jumped every day. What is that
box,and why is it making that nosie. the car is not running when it does
    that. Help

That's most likely the controller for the motorized seat belts. It does go
bad with time most often when the "cupholder" area right above it is used
and the box is subject to condensation & spills.

The same thing went bad on my 92. It can be disabled by pulling the
appropriate fuse, which will stop the clicking. The dealership sells an
extension for the seatbelts so that they can still be easily used with
    the motorized part not working.
