My car was broken into and ransacked. The thief took housing off from around base of steering column going the dash board and tried to jimmy the ignition. I can get the key in, start it but it immediately dies. The theft deterrent needs to be bypassed and I can't find the procedure online. It has no key fob or chip in key, and it's a 5 speed manual transmission. Can anybody help me?

I would check for damaged wiring first.

You need to do a passlock security relearn to see if the passlock will still function properly.
If it does not, it's likely the passlock sensor in the ignition switch was damaged by whatever was jammed in the ignition.

Easiest way to tell is to try the passlock relearn as is.

Written up by yours truly. Explains the passlock II system. Hook up your battery to a charger or another running vehicle. Your battery WILL go dead otherwise.

3 repetitions of the 10 min cycle as written. Do EXACTLY what it says DO NOT do anything it do not say (play with windows open doors etc).

Try the 30 min a 2nd time if the first doesn't take.

You may need to source another ignition cylinder. Make sure it is passlock compatible. Use the new key that comes with it for the ignition. It is matched to the cylinder.

There are gadgets out there that supposedly bypass this generation of GM security, but in actuality they are faking the system out and giving what it expects to see.
