2001 L200 ignition lock cylinder replacement

I just completed a replacement of a stuck ignition switch cylinder with a new GM lock cylinder and a new GM housing. I recoded the cylinder for my existing keys and it works. I went through the procedure to get the security system to accept the keys and the engine will start and run. However, it now wants to start and run between 2500 and 3000 rpm at startup. It will not respond to the throttle.
