1998 saturn cold start problem

    with the temp. around -6 and colder i start the car i chugs than quits,it
    will not restart.i have to turn the key off put my foot to the floor than
    start the car , it chugs and i push the gas puddle up and down slowly
    after a few second it run fine.when it does start it blows blue smoke and
    i can smell gas,it is like it get to much gas ,like its flooded on the
    first start it seem to use more gas,it is hard to tell because it is
    winter.
    if anyone knows what this could be i need a answer a.s.a.p thankyou

  2. I had a cold start problem recently and it turned out to be a gunked up
    throttle body. Lots of advice in this forum on how to remedy.

    One thing to try. Before you turn the key, try to push down the gas
    just a bit. Does it make a "click" like it is breaking free from being
    stuck?

    At the very least, this is not too difficult to inspect.

    change the CTS (coolant temperature sensor).
    Saturns are notorius for them going bad and causing the problems you
    describe.
