Okay so I have a 1997 sl2 saturn and like all of these tranny's my dif. Pin came out and destroyed the tranny so I found another one that is for the car and installed it but after putting everything back together for the 4th time now because the same thing keeps happening. After each time I would do a run threw of the gears begore putting it back togther and everything shifts as it should but after putting everything back on and pulling the jack out my car is in neutral but when letting the clutch out it acts like its in gear. And I can only shift 1-4 and I'm not able to get it to go in 5th or reverse.......someone please give me a clue here!

If you are letting the clutch out in what you think is neutral and it begins to grab, then you are not in neutral.

Also, how do you know which gears you are actually shifting through when doing the pretest? I mean internally. Obviously the shifter indicates the supposed position and gear of the transmission, but if neutral by the shifter position does not behave as neutral, then I would question what gears are you actually placing the car in when pretesting.

And every differential pin in an mp3 Saturn transmission does not fly through the transmission case. They take a lot of abuse if you are doing clutch dumps and you start to get wheel hop on the front right. Burnouts are not good for it either for the same reason.

Not accusing you of having done anything. Just putting the information out there
