Trunk Mounted CD changer?? Keeps changing, even when the car's off.

    Hello,
My '96 SL has a 12 disc CD changer mounted in the trunk. Sometimes, but not
allways, if I leave the CD's in the unit, it'll keep switching between them,
even when the car is off. Nothing else is on, in the car, but this thing keeps
shifting through the CD's. Even if the CD holder is empty, but inserted into
the changer, it shifts through them.
Is there a way to shut that off, that I'm not aware of? I thought that just
shutting off the car would turn it off, but it doesn't. It's run the battery
down a couple of times, so I've needed to jump it. It seems to eat up a lot of
    power.
When the CD Holder isn't in there, it doesn't seem to drain anything, and
right now, I've got the player itself unplugged, so it can't drain my battery.
Still, it'd be nice to play CD's. The manual is very vague about the thing.
Says how to switch to CD, but not how to turn it off, or make it stop the
    constant shuffling.
Any thoughts? This is turning out to be the worst car I've ever owned. My
brother swears by Saturns, but I just seem to swear AT mine.

  2. ....don't have any experience with a car unit - did have a sick home changer
(magazine style) that cycled through the discs when one of the wires in the
ribbon cable chaffed on the chassis and broke, then basically the unit never
'saw' any of the discs. However it would stop after it thought the magazine
    was empty.

Any chance you are thinking of upgrading to some aftermarket equipment?

Reset the unit. There is a small hole in the upper left hand corner of the
deck. Put a paper clip in the hole to press the reset button.

Sometimes those decks get really confused.

Thanks, Kirk, I'll give that a try. It's not like I couldn't live without a CD
player in my car, but since it's already taking up my trunk space....What can I
    lose?
